LYONS, Neb. (WNAX) – With little return on crops right now, ag producers may be looking at alternatives for cash flow, including wind power.
Lucas Nelsen, a policy associate at the Center for Rural Affairs (in Lyons Nebraska) says there is still a lot of untapped wind potential in South Dakota.
Nelsen says wind power projects do have spin off benefits.
Nelsen says most taxes on wind projects stay local, at least for several years.
Nelsen says those that want to develop successful projects have to involve the local communities at the beginning.
