Agreement reached on USMCA trade deal, still not finalized

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WNAX) – An agreement was reached this week on the USMCA trade deal between the U.S., Mexico and Canada.

The ratification process could start with a vote in the U.S. House as soon as next week.

It could be early next year before it could come up for a vote in the Senate.

South Dakota Senator Mike Rounds says it is part of the process.

Rounds says the impeachment trial of President Trump has to come first.

Some Senators have talked about making changes to the agreement. Rounds says that is doubtful.

USMCA is set to replace NAFTA which has been in place since the early 1990s.
