ABERDEEN, S.D. (aberdeennews.com) – The Aberdeen City Council has selected six candidates for the city manager position, two of which are current city employees.
The council met in special session Monday prior to the regular meeting to determine the finalists to replace Lynn Lander.
Aberdeen Human Resources Director Jill Mohr said in all there were 23 applicants. The council received a list of 14 candidates from which it selected six for interviews.
Among the candidates are City Finance Officer Karl Alberts and Planning and Zoning Director Brett Bill.
The other finalists are Ana Cortez, of Helena, Mont.; Seth Kauffman, of St. Cloud, Minn.; Shawn Henessee, of Clark County, Wash.; and Joe Gaa, of Dickinson, N.D.
Lander, the city manager for the last 11 years, announced in February his plans to retire in June.
