FORT PIERRE, S.D.(KCCR)- A Fort Pierre woman is back home to take care of her husband suffering from younger-onset Alzheimer’s Disease after traveling to Washington, D.C. to take part in the Alzheimer’s Association AIM Advocacy Forum. Carmen Magee met with South Dakota’s Congressional delegation and says they are doing the best they can to support dementia research.
Magee says she was honored to attend the AIM Forum but adds it was an emotional experience.
Magee says while money and drugs and research is good, what is really needed is more communication about memory loss.
It took 11 people to help care for her husband Fred while Carmen was in Washington at the AIM Advocacy Forum
