Alzheimer’s Association of South Dakota continuing to push for more research

SOUTH DAKOTA(WNAX)- While there is no cure yet for Alzheimer’s Disease, continued research is getting closer.

Leslie Morrow, Executive Director of the Alzheimer’s Association of South Dakota, says they met with Members of Congress to continue to push for research funding.

Morrow says the next step will being able to find markers of future development of Alzheimer’s.

Morrow says if markers are found early enough, there may be steps available to stall development.

About seventeen thousand people in the state have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s or cognitive decline.
