Amendment to expand Medicaid to be on the November ballot

YANKTON, S.D.(WNAX)- Backers of a petition drive have been successful in getting a constitutional amendment to expand Medicaid on the South Dakota general election ballot in November.

Zach Marcus, with the group “South Dakotans Decide Healthcare,” says they won’t stop with the petitions.

Marcus says Medicaid expansion will bring hundreds of millions of federal dollars to expand health coverage.

Marcus says there are a lot of working people that can’t afford health insurance.

Marcus says they estimate the expansion will bring about forty-two thousand people into Medicaid coverage.
