APD Press Release regarding situation at Central High School

ABERDEEN, S.D. (Press Release) – At approximately 12:15 pm, an altercation occurred between three students at Aberdeen Central High School.  As the school resource officer was attempting to intervene and gain control of the situation, he was injured.  The officer was transported by ambulance to the hospital for evaluation and released.

As this situation was occurring, additional law enforcement officers and medics from Aberdeen Fire & Rescue responded to the high school to assist the officer.  One juvenile student was arrested and charged with three counts of Simple Assault, Obstructing Law Enforcement, Resisting Arrest, and Disruption of School.  There were no weapons used during the assault.
