ABERDEEN, S.D. (Public Release)
This morning you may have noticed a large presence of officers in southwest Aberdeen. At approximately 8:20 am, APD officers were dispatched to the area of US Hwy 281 & W Melgaard Rd for a suspicious person. Multiple callers reported that there was a man running down the highway. Prior to law enforcement’s arrival, the male unsuccessfully attempted to get into two vehicles driven by passing motorists.
When officers arrived on in the area, they attempted to talk with the male who fled. Officers pursued him on foot for several minutes. The male fled into a field area west of US Hwy 281and eventually entered a slough with waist deep water. Additional officers were called to the scene. After approximately 15-20 minutes, the male surrendered to officers. The male was arrested for attempted Criminal Entry of a Motor Vehicle and Obstructing Law Enforcement. The male was taken to a local hospital for a medical clearance and then to the Brown County Jail.
