PIERRE, S.D. (DRG News) – The City of Pierre’s emergency COVID-19 ordinance has expired and won’t immediately be replaced.
Mayor Steve Harding says the local business community and residents have shown a lot of personal and social responsibility in response to the pandemic.
Despite the limitations in service or closure of some businesses, Harding says April sales tax revenue in Pierre was up.
Harding says city officials will continue to monitor COVID-19 activity in the region. If a spike in positive cases is observed, the City may consider enacting another ordinance to help keep the public safe.
No citations were issued for violations of Pierre’s COVID-19 ordinance during the 61 days it was in effect.
