PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio with audio from KCCR)- Following the end of this year’s legislative session, lawmakers oppose to SB201 which deals with local control held a rally at the Rotunda. The rally was the launching point for a referendum to repeal the bill passed by the legislature and signed by Governor Kristi Noem.
Legislators representing Aberdeen all spoke out against SB201 at the rally starting with Representative Carl Perry,
Representative Scott Moore of Ipswich whose district also covers a portion of Aberdeen spoke about the importance of local control.
Representative Brandei Schaefbauer looks ahead to the 2024 primary in June.
Schaefbauer believes citizens need to know what the candidates’ stance on local control before casting votes.
Senator Al Novstrup brought up three reasons why he’s opposed to SB201 beginning with safety. Novstrup made a bold prediction about what could happen in Aberdeen.
