OMAHA, N.E.(WNAX)- The Corps of Engineers are starting to make adjustments to operations of the Missouri River system as spring approaches.
Mike Swenson with the Corps office in Omaha says releases from Gavins Point Dam near Yankton will start to increase.
Swenson says there is plenty of water storage room in the upper reservoir.
Due to the expected lower runoff, Swenson says hydro power production from the dams will be lower than normal.
Swenson says with current conditions, they expect to cut the navigation season short by about three weeks in the fall.
