Arrest made in Watertown homicide

WATERTOWN, S.D. (KWAT) — Watertown police say a murder suspect and the woman he’s accused of killing were, “recent acquaintances.”

Forty year-old Jeremiah Peacemaker of Watertown was arrested at 6:15 this morning for Second Degree Murder in the death of 28 year-old Kendra Owen of Watertown.

Police were called to Owen’s residence in the 300-block of North Broadway around 6:15 Wednesday night to conduct a welfare check.

She was found deceased, and police say she had been dead for several days.

Detective Chad Stahl says there were numerous signs of trauma on Owen’s body, but an exact cause of death will be determined by an autopsy, which is being done today.

Stahl says anyone with information on this crime should contact Watertown police at 882-6210.

Police are particularly interested in establishing a timeline of the events that led to Owens’ death.

Peacemaker is being held at the Codington County Detention Center on $ 1million cash only bond.
