Attorney General addressed the May Day Health case

PIERRE, S.D.(KELO)- Attorney General Marty Jackley was in Federal Court earlier this week, defending a new state law banning the advertisement of abortion drugs in the South Dakota.

A 1st Amendment suit was brought by May Day Health, and Attorney Nancy Turbak-Berry of Watertown.

May Day advertised access to abortion pills in the state last year.

Jackley says freedom of speech is one thing…but providing access to pills that break state law is another…similar to advertising for illegal drugs.

Jackley says briefs are due to be filed by July 3rd.

He expects a ruling soon afterward.
