Attorney General Marty Jackley comment on upcoming summer study on county funding

PIERRE, S.D.(WNAX)- A study committee is looking at the rising costs of public defenders to South Dakota counties.

Attorney General Marty Jackley says he has had first hand experience with those rising costs.

Jackley says a lot of the costs are related to drug crime.

Jackley says counties need more options because costs can increase quickly.

The study committee may have some recommendations for the 2024 legislature.
