YANKTON, S.D.(WNAX)- Backers of Medicaid expansion turned in their petitions to the Secretary of State’s office this week.
Rick Weiland, with “South Dakotans Decide Healthcare” says they think they will hit the signature goal.
Weiland says while they wait on the petition verification, they will turn their attention to opposing Amendment “C” on the June primary ballot.
If Amendment “C” is approved, it would then force any ballot issue that spends more than ten million dollars to receive sixty percent voter approval.
Weiland says that would mean minority rule.
There is also a legal challenge to Amendment “C” pending before the state Supreme Court.
