Ballot measure requiring prayer in school require South Dakota sponsor

PIERRE, S.D.(KELO)- This year’s election is still a couple of months away, and already, there are issues dealing with the 2026 election.
A Florida man wants to sponsor a ballot measure to require prayer in all South Dakota schools.Attorney General Marty Jackley has advised the Secretary of State that non-residents aren’t allowed to sponsor ballot proposals.

Jackley is basing his advice on his reading of the state Constitution, which says citizens may sponsor ballot measures.
