Banks in South Dakota looking for guidance involving crypto currency

PIERRE, S.D.(WNAX)- While crypto currencies like Bitcoin are getting a lot of attention, commercial banks are waiting on the sidelines.

South Dakota Bankers Association President Karl Adam says they opposed a bill in this years legislature dealing with those online transactions.

Adam says the volatility of crypto currency is a problem for banks.

Adam says there are trust companies in the state that do deal in the crypto world.

One Bitcoin is now valued at about $53,000 dollars, with a total circulation of over one trillion dollars.
