Banner announces expansion in Aberdeen

ABERDEEN, S.D. (By Trent Abrego Banner Engineering’s production facility in Aberdeen will be adding 30,000 square feet to the west end of the existing building.

The expansion, announced Wednesday, will increase the production floor space by 50%, according to a news release.

The project is in the initial stages of soliciting bids and working with contractors on final drawings and a schedule. Construction is expected to begin in spring and be finished by July.

Banner opened Aberdeen in 1989 in a 60,000-square-foot building. In 1997, the company added an additional 6,000 square feet to the south end of the original building, according to the release.

“Banner’s global growth is fueling the need for additional manufacturing and warehouse space,” the release reads.

“Since 1989 Banner has been a key employer in Aberdeen, with this investment by Banner the relationship between the company and community solidifies even further,” CEO of the Aberdeen Development Corp. Michael Bockorny said in the release.

Banner is a leader in the industrial automation market and produces sensor, safety, LED lighting and indicators and wireless products that are used by a multitude of companies.

“The Aberdeen Development Corp. stepped up to the plate providing information and an incentive package which assisted Banner in choosing to expand in Aberdeen,” Banner’s Senior Global Director of Manufacturing Richard Inman said in the release.
