BBB provides tips to recover after being scammed

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.(KELO)- If you’ve become a victim of a scam, chances are you need help recovering.

The Better Business Bureau has launched a new online resource designed to provide that help.

South Dakota Vice President for the Bureau, Jesse Schmidt says reaching out is an important step in recovering.

Schmidt says reporting problems to the scam tracker can also help others avoid becoming victims.

It’s called a Scam Survival Toolkit, and it’s designed to help people gain peace of mind and recover after being victimized.

Schmidt of the says the first step is overcoming a sense of shame.

Schmidt says feeling shame is a normal reaction, but it’s important to remember that the scammers are pros at what they do.
