PIERRE, S.D.(WNAX)- A bill dealing with fees for the Secretary of States office that had been hoghoused in the House to become a bill to do away with the sales tax on food hit the wall in the Senate.
A motion was made to send the bill to a conference committee, but Senator Lee Schoenbeck of Watertown resisted.
Senator Troy Heinert of Mission said the bill should get further debate.
Schoenbeck said they have had the same debate many times.
The motion for a conference committee was defeated on a vote of twenty two to nine, effectively killing the bill.
