Bill to expand State Health Lab in Pierre clears the Senate

PIERRE, S.D.(KCCR)- A bill to allow for the renovation and expansion of the State Health Laboratory in Pierre has survived Crossover Day.  Senate Bill 33 would utilize American Rescue Plan funds from the Capital Projects fund to cover 100-percent of the 69-point-nine million dollar project.  Senator Bryan Breitling of Miller says the bill would help bring the State Health Lab into the future.

The bill was amended in the Senate Appropriations Committee to allow any old equipment to be offered to South Dakota post-secondary institutions by Senator Ryan Maher of Isabel; however he brought another amendment to change that.

S-B 33 clears the Senate floor on a unanimous 35 to zero vote.
