PIERRE, S.D.(WNAX)- The South Dakota House will let the South Dakota Senate decide the fate of a bill that would provide funds for work around Capitol Lake in Pierre. Representative John Mills of Volga supports the idea but is concerned about losing the signature Flaming Fountain.
Representative Will Mortenson of Pierre says the Bureau of Administration is ready for input on the fountain and memorial area of the lake, but site needs to be protected first.
Representative Kent Peterson of Salem recalled former Representative Tim Rounds passion for saving the fountain.
The House passed the H-B 1013 on a 59 to seven vote. Four members were excused.
