PIERRE, S.D.(WNAX)- The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has warned of possible electric brown outs or black outs across the Midwest this summer. A combination of offline power plants, lack of transmission and higher demand are the potential problems.
Tom Glanzer with Northwestern Energy says they are watching the grid carefully.
Glanzer says they don’t expect those types of problems, but conditions change quickly.
Most electric utilities in the northern plains see their peak power demand in the winter heating season instead of summer time air conditioning.
