Board of Regents discuss policy dealing with minors on campus

ABERDEEN, S.D.(WNAX)- The South Dakota Board of Regents at their meeting at Northern State University in Aberdeen, presented the first reading for a policy addressing non-student minors on campus. The policy establishes a responsible framework to protect youth invited to campus for activities, programs, or events.

Regents counsel Nathan Lukkes says they have set up an outline.

Lukkes says there will be a check list for each event.

Lukkes used a personal example.

The policy applies to university-sponsored programs, as well as externally hosted events occurring on campus and involving the presence of minors. The policy will be finalized at a future meeting.
