Bonnie Lynne Piper was born in Devils Lake, North Dakota, on June 21, 1947, to Rollo and Phyliss (Torfin) Piper. She attended schools in Aberdeen, SD, graduating with the class of 1965.
While in high school, Bonnie met Roger Arlt. They married on July 13, 1965, in Aberdeen, SD. Soon they would begin their family with Tracy, Michelle, and their son, J.
Life was an adjustment for the city girl who found herself living in the country on a farm filled with many sights, sounds, and smells she hadn’t known before. Over the years, she tended her flower and vegetable gardens, sheep, llamas, and chickens. We think she adjusted just fine.
Bonnie also enjoyed cross stitching, reading, coffee, reading, more coffee, reading, and more reading.
Bonnie, Roger, and J loved the Brown County Fair, and you would find them hanging out in the sheep barn with friends, enjoying fair food, and showing off the grandkids any chance they would get.
After Roger passed, Bonnie and J spent many lunch hours at the Millstone Family Restaurant and suppers at The Flame. The staff became like family to them.
Bonnie is survived by her daughters, Tracy (Scott) Gravning and Michelle Kelly; grandchildren: Chase (Megan) Anderson, Mariah (Josiah) Hart, Sydney Pahl, Landon Pahl, Madison Pahl, Logan Arlt and Jden Arlt; great-grandchildren: Emma, Adalyn, Jeremiah Anderson and Ari Arlt; special daughter in law Nicole Cox and special grandchildren of the heart: Jessalyn ‘LG’, Anya, Katie and Sam.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband Roger Arlt; son, J Arlt; parents, Rollo and Phyliss Piper; brothers,Jerry and Tom; and granddaughter, Jasmine.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Tracy or Michelle to be used to purchase a memorial bench to honor Bonnie, Roger, and J.
