Braun’s Low Round on Day 2 the Difference at Sanford Futures Tour

GRAND FALLS GOLF RESORT (hubcityradio.com) -Aberdeen’s Olivia Braun capped off a stellar tournament with a commanding second round, finishing first overall with a 149 (+5). After a respectable 78 in Round 1, Braun caught fire on Day 2, carding a brilliant 71—the lowest round of the tournament. Her Day 2 performance was highlighted by: 2 birdies on the front and an eagle on 17, as she finished one stroke ahead of Class A State Champ Ryan Horning and two ahead of Class B State Champ Brynn Roehrich.

For Aberdeen’s  Claire Crawford, the Grand Falls tournament was a personal test of resilience. After a  93 in Round 1, she responded with an improved 86 in Round 2, cutting 7 strokes off her opening round.

In the boys high school division, Ben Appelhof delivered a commanding performance at the Sanford Futures Tour event at Grand Falls Casino & Golf Resort, claiming the individual title with a remarkable 9-under-par total of 135.

Appelhof opened with a strong 69 (34/35) in Round 1 but truly separated himself in Round 2 with a lights-out 66 (33/33)—the lowest round of the tournament. He had  a 7-stroke victory over the next closest competitor.

Taten Mauney placed second with a solid total of 142 (-2). After matching Appelhof’s 69 on Day 1, he struggled to keep pace on Day 2, carding a 73. Just one stroke back was Jayden Antonen, who finished at 143 (-1). Antonen also opened with a 69 and followed it up with a 74, rounding out a strong top-three showing.
