Brookings Senator pitching wildlife habitat stamp

BROOKINGS, S.D. (KJJQ) – Brookings State Senator V.J. Smith is hoping to win support for his bill to establish a wildlife habitat stamp in South Dakota.

Smith says he’s been working with the Game, Fish and Parks Department on the idea.

Habitat continues to be lost in the state as farmers continue to find ways to use land that had previously been left to nature.

Smith wants hunters and anglers to have more success.

He says for many small towns, hunting and tourism are vital lifelines.
