Brookings teacher Camrin Vaux wins Milken Award

BROOKINGS, S.D.(KBRK)- A Brookings educator is presented with a $25,000 Milken Award.

Camelot Intermediate School 5th grade teacher Camrin Vaux was surprised with the award at an all-school assembly this morning.

Vaux was clearly a bit stunned by the award.

It was presented by Greg Gallagher of the Milken Foundation.

South Dakota Department of Education Secretary Tiffany Sanderson was on hand to help make the presentation.

Vaux is among more than 60 educators nationwide who will receive the Award during the 2021-22 school year. There are no restrictions on how the recipients use the money.

Students and staff thought they were gathering for a celebration of their success. They were also treated to the surprise of Vaux winning the Milken Award.
