ABERDEEN, S.D.(Aberdeen American News)- Homeland Security grants will be used to expand the personal protective equipment for Brown County’s emergency dive team.
Brown County Commissioners approved $12,627 in equipment purchases at Tuesday’s meeting.
Dive team member Jason Vilhauer said this will round out the equipment needs for volunteers who respond to calls, ensuring a five-member team is available in an emergency.
Emergency Management Director Scott Meints said the equipment purchases are covered by Homeland Security grant funds approved for Brown County.
The county has 10 members on its volunteer dive team.
Following the meeting, Meints said, he did not have an estimated delivery date for the equipment but was recently notified that the quoted prices were going to increase after the first of the year.
