ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- The Brown County Commission on Tuesday discussed purchasing a building near the Brown County Jail to allow for expansion.  They have reached capacity at the current jail.

Sutton believes this is money well spent.

A similar plan was in place back in 2023 with the former HubCity, Inc. plant.  That was to make it a regional jail but the funding needed to make that happen was defeated by the South Dakota Legislature.  Commissioner Drew Dennert compared today to back then.

Officially, no action was made by the commission as the sell hasn’t gone through yet.  The location of the building hasn’t been released yet pending the upcoming sale.
