Brown County Fair has record-breaking year

ABERDEEN, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – It was a record-breaking year for the Brown County Fair.

The annual event brought in more than $1.2 million for the first time ever.

The final total was $1,259,512.34.

Derek Ricci, Brown County Fair Manager, said the number may have been even higher if not for the weather.

The grandstand events played a significant role in the total, bringing in $718,279.24. Ricci said the rodeo ($47,279.08) and rock night ($179,555.29) were key factors.

Following expenses, the county is expected to net $74,691.

Ricci said the goal is to try to keep improving the fair each year.

He said all the numbers, except for camping, were up this year. He said the fair is a hub for both the county as well as the region.
