ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- The Brown County Regional Communications Council held their meeting Tuesday at the Municipal Building. The council consist of two members of the Brown County Commission and the Aberdeen City Council and one member of the Aberdeen School Board. The council meets every six months. The focus is dealing with 911 services done in Brown County.
During the open forum, the Brown County Communications Center were praised for their services to the county.

Brown County Sheriff Dave Lunzman who discuss services they assist with other counties in the northeast.
911 Communications Director Kent Jones goes over how often the call center has been used so far this year.
Jones talks about an experimental program the state of South Dakota is using Brown County for.

911 Budget Funding:
The council also discuss funding for the center for the rest of 2026.
Mayor Travis Schaunaman discussed a topic of concern when it comes to 911 surcharge funds coming from the state.
Aberdeen City Attorney Ron Wager(Wag-er) looked to clarify this involving cell phone services.
Wager discussed the differences between cell phone service and the sim card that’s use.
Sheriff Lunzman expressed concerns that if they look to funding for the sim card would disqualify them from getting money from the state for the 911 services.
Wager responded by believing the state would grant them money even if it’s use toward addressing sim cards.
Brown County Commissioner Mike Gage respectfully disagrees.
Brown County Commissioner Duane Sutton announced what they are looking to budget for the remainder of 2026.
The council also established a floor going forward at $500,000.
