Brown County selects surge sites

ABERDEEN, S.D. (aberdeennews.com) – As the number of COVID-19 cases increases, Brown County and hospital officials have identified surge sites.

These sites will provide additional beds for the hospitals if they become necessary with increased cases of COVID-19. The sites are awaiting approval from state officials, which could some yet this week.

Brown County Emergency Management Director Scott Meints provided the information in an update to the Brown County Commission Tuesday. Commissioners met in the basement of the courthouse annex to comply with social distancing recommendations. Meints said once those sites are approved he can provide more information on how much additional capacity these sites will provide locally.
