ABERDEEN, S.D. (aberdeennews.com) – The Brown County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man involved in the theft of a vehicle Monday night.
Chief Deputy Dave Lunzman said the call started as a report of a suspicious person south of Aberdeen. A deputy was en route to the scene, Lunzman said, when he was notified that a vehicle was stolen from a residence.
Shortly thereafter, Lunzman said, the deputy spotted the vehicle and attempted to initiate a traffic stop.
“The pursuit lasted a very short period of time before they turned a corner and crashed the vehicle,” he said.
This crash was between Aberdeen and Warner at about 11 p.m.
After determining the driver was not injured inside the vehicle and had not been ejected, Lunzman said, officers determined he fled the scene. The county’s drone was used in the search, but the man was not found.
