Brown County Summer Fest takes center stage

ABERDEEN, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The Brown County Summer Fest takes center stage this week at the Brown County Fairgrounds.

The event officially starts at noon on Wednesday and will go through Saturday night, according to Brown County Commission Chair Rachel Kippley.

Carnival rides starting moving into the fairgrounds Sunday evening. Kippley said there has been quite a bit of demand for ride passes.

She said there is still a limited number of vendor spots available.

Grandstand entertainment will feature bull riding on Thursday and Friday nights, and Chancey Williams and the Younger Brothers Band on Saturday night.

The Summer Fest came about when the county commission decided to postpone this year’s Brown County Fair acting on a unanimous recommendation from the fair board. Kippley talked about the differences between the two events.

Volunteers are still needed for this week.

Kippley knows that people have mixed feelings about this week’s Summer Fest, but that at least people have an option for some summer entertainment.
