Camping likely to remain strong after Labor Day weekend

YANKTON, S.D. (WNAX) – The Labor Day weekend marks the end of the major camping season in state parks.

Game, Fish & Parks District Supervisor Shane Bertsch says they will stay busy for a while yet at Lewis & Clark State Recreation Area near Yankton.

The park is often full for most of the summer months. Bertsch says they do have another expansion planned.

Bertsch says they only have one part of the park with room for more camp sites.

Bertsch says early numbers show about 36,000 camping units were used during the summer months.
