Candidate Forums coming up in April at K.O. Lee Library

ABERDEEN, S.D.(Press Release) – The Aberdeen Area Chamber of Commerce and the Aberdeen Area League of Women Voters will be hosting three Candidate Forums in April. All forums will be held in the community rooms of the KO Lee Aberdeen Public Library, 215 4th Ave. SE, Aberdeen, SD  from 5:30 – 7:00 pm.

Tuesday, April 26, 2022  -The Brown County Commission Candidate Forum. Candidates invited to attend include: Mike Weise, Mike Gage, Chad Fischbach, Mike Russell, Drew Dennert, and Doug Fjeldheim. There are a total of 4 open positions, three that are 4-year terms and one 2-year term.

Wednesday, April 27th – Aberdeen School Board Candidate Forum. Candidates invited to attend include: Duane Alm, Mike Bockorny, and Gayle Bortnem. There are 2 open positions.

Thursday, April 28, 2022 – Aberdeen City Council Candidate Forum. Candidates invited to attend include: Jon Boon McNutt, Charlotte Liebelt, Erin Fouberg, Mark Remily, Andy Schaunaman, David Novstrup, Chad Nilson, and Kyle Walz. There are three council openings from the Northeast, Northwest and Southeast Districts. Each term is five years.

All forums are free and open to the public. Candidates will each have the opportunity to make 3-minute opening remarks, address submitted questions from attendees, and make 1-minute closing remarks. Dakota Broadcasting will also be streaming the forums live on their website for those unable to attend in person. The election for Brown County Commission, Aberdeen City Council and the Aberdeen School District will be on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 with absentee voting beginning on April 22, 2022.
