The South Dakota Farmers Union hosted a candidate forum at the Brown County Fair Saturday. Candidates representing South Dakota District 1 & 3 House attended. Among the topics discussed was their stance on eminent domain.
District 3 Representative Brandei Schaefbauer discuss the CO2 shouldn’t be consider a commodity.
District 3 candidate Erin Rudner believes this is an issue that can have bipartisan support from Republicans & Democrats.
District 1 candidate Christopher Reder explains how Minnesota has used the issue of eminent domain.
District 1 candidate Steven McCleerey believes this is a topic that needs to be addressed separately.
Candidates were also asked if they would author bills to address the issue of eminent domain.
Representative Schaefbauer said she wouldn’t for now but talked about the process of how bills go through the process.
