Car wash could go in former Hardee’s building site

ABERDEEN, S.D. (By Trent Abrego tabrego@gannett.com) – The Aberdeen City Board of Zoning Adjustment will hear Thursday from a Fargo, N.D.-based corporation requesting permission to build a new car wash at the former Hardee’s location.

The meeting agenda lists both Northland Real Estate Holdings of California, which owned the Hardee’s building, and Paces Lodging Corp. of Fargo.

The new car wash would be a part of Tommy Car Wash Systems, according to documents obtained filed with the city. Currently, there are no Tommy Car Wash Systems in South Dakota.

There are 58 open Tommy Car Wash Systems open in the country, and 52 additional car washes are in progress, according to the company’s website.

Hardee’s opened in the 124 Sixth Ave. S.W. location on April 3, 1979, and closed abruptly on Jan. 3. The building was then listed for sale.
