Carol Koslowski-Kulesa, 87

Carol Koslowski- Kulesa, 87, of Grenville, passed away Friday, March 14, 2025, at Coteau Des Prairie Hospital, Sisseton.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 2pm, Saturday, March 22, 2025, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Grenville. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be 5-7pm at the church with a 6pm Rosary Service.

Carol Jean Deutsch was the first born of Joe M. and Edythe (Woulph) Deutsch at Veblen, South Dakota on June 12, 1937, and spent her childhood at their farm near their Buffalo Lake farm. She went to country school until the 4th grade, and her next four years of education were spent living with her grandparents, Mike and Agnes Deutsch, in Eden during the week, and weekends at the farm. Carol attended high school at St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Grenville, graduating in 1955. She lived with nuns during the week and too the train home to Eden on weekends. After graduation, Carol worked at St. Ann’s Hospital in Watertown.

Carol met David Koslowski Sr. at a dance in Grenville. They were married on April 10, 1956, and began farming east of Grenville, on the original Vincent Koslowski homestead. Carol and David bought the Boike farm a mile south in 1969, and Carol lived there until the day she passed.

Carol continued farming after David died in 1980. She married Jim Kulesa on March 2, 1992. Jim died in 1993.

Carol was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Parish since 1956, serving on the Centennial Committee in 1985, along with belonging to the Altar Society.

Carol was a true saleswoman at heart. She was an Avon Representative since 1969 – one of her proudest accomplishments! She was co-owner of Grenville Sports Mart during the 1990’s, operated a fireworks stand, and sold Nikken and Tupperware for many years. She was also the assistant post-mistress at the Grenville Post Office.

Carol passed away March 14, 2025, at Sisseton, South Dakota at the age of 87 years, 9 months, and 2 days.

She is survived by her children, Dave (Elaine) Koslowski of Grenville, SD, Ken Koslowski of Firestone, CO, Larry Koslowski of Roslyn, SD, and Becky Kennedy of Grenville, SD. She leaves behind grandchildren, Jesse, Justin, Chelsie, Joe, Taylor, Nicole, Danille, and Trystin, as well as 14 great grandchildren, one great-great grandson, sister Lynda (Chuck) Pulliam, and her beloved dog, Koko. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, brother Mike (Judy) Deutsch, sister Susie (Larry) Sichmeller, and granddaughter Angela Koslowski.
