HAYTI, S.D. (KWAT) — A Castlewood woman has pleaded not guilty to manslaughter charges in the death of a two year-old girl.

Thirty-year-old Josephine Raymundo is also charged with Felony Child Abuse.

She made her initital court appearance Tuesday.

Emergency responders were called to a Castlewood home on June 2 where Jorgan Eagle Star was found unresponsive. She was taken to Prairie Lakes Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Attorney General Jason Ravnsborg says an investigation uncovered evidence of “ongoing child abuse.”

Defense attorney Scott Bratland says Raymundo’s jury trial has been scheduled for Dec. 7, and is expected to last one week.
