PIERRE, S.D. (KCCR) – A restaurant east of Pierre sustains damage in an early Wednesday morning fire. Pierre Rural Fire Department Chief Jason Roggel says firefighters were dispatched around 5 a.m.

Roggel says an exact cause in unknown.

The building housing the Cattleman’s Club has an apartment above the restaurant which was occupied at the time.

Roggel says the fire is a great example of why working fire alarms are important.

The Cattleman’s Club Steakhouse is five and a half miles east of Pierre on South Dakota Highway 34.
