FORT PIERRE, S.D. (DRG News) – The cause of a grassland fire about six miles northwest of Fort Pierre early Monday afternoon is unknown at this time.
Fort Pierre Volunteer Fire Department assistant chief Tye Odden says local and federal firefighters responded.
Vegetation on top may look lush and green, but Odden says there’s plenty of fuel underneath to cause a grassfire.
In total, the fire burned about two acres.
