MADISON, SD (HubCityRadio.com) – The Aberdeen Roncalli Cavaliers picked up their first win of the season & the first individual medalist for Roncalli’s Lucas Daggett.

On Thursday, dealing with the heat & windy conditions in Madison, the Cavaliers were able to brave the elements & take care of business for the victory. Lucas Daggett finished in first place, carding a (+6, 77) for the day & he won the event by one stroke over Chamberlin’s Chase McQuirk. EPJ’s Ben Akin, who carded a (-6, 66) on Tuesday at the West Central early bird invite finished in third place; he was four strokes off Daggett’s pace.

Head Coach Chazz Vigil’s thoughts on the event: “The team came out and battled through adversity. The golf course was set up pretty tough and the wind definitely didn’t help, but we did we had to do and ultimately accomplished the goal. This was Lucas’ first individual win and it was a lot of fun seeing him battle through the round. He started off with a double bogey and then grinded through the round to put himself fin a position to win.”

The Cavs are right back to the links next week, they’ll hit the road and travel south to the Dell Rapids tournament at Dells Rocky Run GC on Monday, August 24^th.
