YANKTON, S.D. (WNAX) – The Census Bureau is gearing up for the 10-year count across the country and in South Dakota.
Blanca Ramirez-Salazar is the Partnership Coordinator for the Upper Plains states and says they are looking for quite a few part time employees to help with the count in the state.
Ramirez-Salazar says the actual count starts this spring.
She says a Census enumerator will only knock on your door if you have not completed the online, mail in or telephone survey.
Ramirez-Salazar says the first push will be near university campuses.
Ramirez-Salazar says they will also make special efforts to count people in rural areas and Indian reservations.
She says the groundwork is scheduled to wrap up by Aug. 1.
