ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- Tariffs are something that President Trump has been pushing since the start of his second term in office.

The President & CEO of NexEra Material Group, Jeff Lassle(Lass-Lee) appeared on the KSDN Midday Report Monday to discuss his take on how much of an impact they make to South Dakota and the country.

Lassle discuss who pays when tariffs goes into effect.

Lassle compares these tariffs to the Smoot/Hawley Tariff Act that passed back in 1930.

Lassle explains how tariffs impact inflation in the country.

One of the reasons tariffs are being put in place is to encourage business to create manufacturing plants within the U.S. for their business.  Lassle offered a response to that.

Back in August, Governor Larry Rhoden spent time in Ireland & the U.K. as part of a trade mission.  Lassle discuss a business in Ireland who’s looking to expand into South Dakota and is looking for feedback from legislators.

They are scheduled to come on September 27th.  That date is subject to change.

Lassle express concerns about the potential for stagflation that could hit the country.
