Chair of House Education Committee feels whistleblower hotline not necessary

PIERRE, S.D.(WNAX)- South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem has challenged the Board of Regents to increase university graduation rates to sixty five percent, add required courses in US history, and do away with diversity efforts. She also set up a “whistle blower” hot line phone number for people to report any issues at universities.

Representative Mike Stevens of Yankton, Chairman of the House Education Committee, says more rules and regulations are unnecessary.

Stevens says the graduation rate has to be put in perspective.

Stevens says all of higher education is in transition.

Regents President Tim Rave has not yet returned a call for comment.
