PIERRE, S.D.(WNAX)- A major part of Governor Kristi Noem’s budget address contained a six percent raise for state aid to education, health care providers and state employees.
Senator Jean Hunhoff of Yankton says legislators are aware of the employment issues.
Hunhoff says they added more money to health care providers last year and it wasn’t enough,
Hunhoff says any raise passed this year will be the base they have to start from next year.
Hunhoff, Co-Chair of the Joint Committee on Appropriations, says they will begin budget hearings a week before the start of the legislative session on January 11th.
