CANTON, S.D. (WNAX) – The South Dakota legislature will have to appoint a task force to redraw election boundaries before the end of next year.
Senator Jim Bolin of Canton served on the redistricting task force in 2011. He says they could start on the next map once they get the official overall Census of the state.
Bolin says there are some challenges in drawing the new maps.
Bolin says he feels they did a fair job in 2011.
Census numbers are supposed to be delivered to the states by the end of this year, but there are concerns those will be delayed due to changes at the federal level.
