Chamber Board supports the following 2023 state legislative bills

ABERDEEN, S.D.(Press Release) – The Aberdeen Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors recently voted in support of a number of bills making its way through the South Dakota Legislature.  Chief Executive Officer Gail Ochs talks about the supports of those bills.

Ochs talks about SB 173 which would increase the appropriation for construction costs related to the Lincoln Hall project at NSU.

Ochs talks about two bills SB 20 & SB 17 dealing with the water projects including the WINS project for Aberdeen and surrounding area.

Ochs also discussed SB 155 which deals with funding for improvement and construction of jails especially the projected Brown County Jail.

The chamber also have support for two House bills(HB 1117 & 1118) dealing with funding for Small Business Development Centers among others.

Others the Chamber is watching include: childcare, tuition freeze, school funding, foreign ownership of ag land, grocery tax, property tax, parental leave, and more.

The chamber also had plans to attend Aberdeen Day at the Capitol on Friday, however due to weather, those plans have been cancelled.  Aberdeen Day at the Capitol will still place Friday at Pierre.

Ochs also talked about the upcoming Community Affairs Luncheon that will include Mayor Travis Schaunaman delivering his State of the City Address.
